New Governor. - This morning at 10 o'clock, Hon. D. D. T. Farnsworth, President of the Senate, will take the prescribed oaths and be regularly installed as Governor of this Commonwealth. Our constitution provides that in case of the death, resignation or disability of the Governor, the presiding officer in the Senate shall assume the duties of that office, and it is by reason of the second cause named that Mr. Farnsworth enters upon his Gubernatorial career - Governor Boreman having resigned on Wednesday to take effect to-day, at the hour mentioned. We have no doubt Governor Farnsworth will acquit himself as handsomely and creditably in his new position as he has in all the relations he has sustained to our State government since its organization. We congratulate the new Governor on his accession to the chief magistracy of our young and growing commonwealth. His labors for the success of Republican principles in this State have been Herculean, and we are gratified that his is to be permitted to reap a molety at least of the honors justly due him.
Sworn In. - Yesterday morning, shortly after 10 o'clock, the oaths of office were administered by Capt. Dovener, Notary Public, to Hon. D. D. T. Farnsworth as Governor, and he at once entered on the duties of the office. The first official act of Governor Farnsworth was signing his name to the credentials of ex-Governor Boreman as United States Senator.
Quite a number of Governor F's friends were present in the Executive Chamber where the ceremony of his inauguration took place, and immediately after the official forms had been gone through, they united in paying their respects to His Excellency. The Governor wears his honors with becoming modesty. They sit as gently on him as did those which he wore so worthily as presiding officer of the Senate. His present term as Chief Magistrate of the State will be brief, but we venture to say that it will demonstrate his eminent fitness for the position. Hereafter the people may place him for a longer period in the chair which he now fills. Should they do so we feel confident that he will be found to be "the right man in the right place."
