Cultural Facilities and Capital Resources Grant Program

Application Deadline: July 1

Eligibility: Primary eligibility is for arts organizations with three years of successful arts administration of grants approved by the WVCA, and a secondary opportunity for history museums (as defined in Legislative Rule Title 82 Series 7, as amended). Agencies of municipal or county governments, including county school boards and not-for profit, tax-exempt West Virginia corporations as defined in 501(c) (3) and 501(c)(4) of the Federal Internal Revenue Code of 1954 and as designated in compliance with §170 of that code at the time of application and prior to the release of funds may apply. [Colleges and universities are not eligible under this program.]

Funding Level: Applicants may request a minimum of $2500 and a maximum of $500,000 per annual request. Applications may request up to 50% of eligible expenses for acquisition of real property, renovation of existing property, and purchase of durable equipment.

Matching Requirements: 50% cash match is required.

Letter of Intent Required: All Applicants by April 1.

Program purpose:
• increase or assure public access to the arts
• encourage collaborations and partnerships that leverage public and private investment
• serve more than one county
• contribute to economic development
• further cultural development in rural, under-served, or minority communities
• address known health and safety deficiencies
• create or improve access to facilities for working artists with disabilities
• improve, expand, or rehabilitate existing buildings to provide for handicapped accessibility
• reduce an organization’s operating costs.

Program description: This program provides financial support for acquisition of real property, renovations to existing facilities and capital equipment that provides infrastructure for arts organizations (primary purpose) and history museums (secondary opportunity).

Fast Track ADA and Emergency Grants

Application Deadline: Ongoing. Applications may be received throughout the year.

Forms Required: Fast Tract ADA and Emergency Grant Application

Eligibility: Primary eligibility is for Arts organizations with three years of successful arts administration of grants approved by the WVCA, and a secondary opportunity for history museums (as defined in Legislative Rule Title 82 Series 7, as amended). Agencies of municipal or county governments, including county school boards and not-for profit, tax-exempt West Virginia corporation as defined in 501(c) (3) and 501(c)(4) of the Federal Internal Revenue Code of 1954 and as designated in compliance with §170 of that code at the time of application and prior to the release of funds may apply. Funding Level: Application may be made for grants in the range of $2000 to $10,000. Applications may request up to 50% of eligible expenses for acquisition of real property, renovation of existing property, and purchase of durable equipment.

Matching Requirements: 50% cash match is required.

Letter of Intent Required: None required

Program purpose: To provide response to smaller renovation and construction projects to comply with Section 504/ADA and regulations concerning access to public buildings for people with disabilities, and to answer emergency needs when damage to arts and history museum infra-structure or sudden failure of equipment may result in harm to arts and history collections and public safety.

Program description: The Fast Track ADA and Emergency Grant Program provides more rapid access to funding for emergencies (flood, damage, etc) and resolution of ADA and health and safety deficiencies.
