Picturing West Virginia: A Century of Collecting by the West Virginia State Archives, 1905-2005

Since its creation in 1905, the West Virginia State Archives has collected and preserved publications, records, photographs and other materials that document the history of the Mountain State. The photographic collection is the state's visual documentation of its proud history - its towns and communities, government and citizens, transportation and communication, industry and manufacturing, society and culture - past and present.

The 150 images featured in Picturing West Virginia: A Century of Collecting by the West Virginia State Archives, 1905-2005 are an eclectic selection from the thousands that represent a century of collecting by the State Archives, providing an enjoyable pictorial journey through the state and its diverse scenery and heritage.
