Security Notice *For the safety and security of your students and chaperones we will not respond to phone inquiries concerning the whereabouts of your group. We will recommend that callers contact the school. It will be your responsibility to establish a communication system for emergency calls from parents, school administrators and fellow teachers. You know your families and peers, we do not. Please ensure that someone in your group has a functioning mobile communication device.* Preparing Students Remember to plan pre-visit activity for the classroom, review museum etiquette, watch activity package videos and use the checklist to make sure you have everything you need. Arriving at the Culture Center When you arrive at the Culture Center, your class will go to the specified check-in area in the Great Hall on the first floor. All over-sized bags, backpacks and coats will be secured during the length of your stay. Every group with a reservation will receive a name tag and the materials appropriate for the activity package pre-selected by the teacher. You may enter the museum with your camera but the flash must be turned off, please mute your cell phones and no food in the museum. Thanks. Capitol food court Located on the lower level of the Main Capitol Building, the food court provides a choice for any appetite. Offerings include soup, sandwich and salad bar, grill and pizza oven, and a daily featured entr e. Arrange in advance for boxed lunches 304-558-1086. (Mon - Fri 8 am - 1:30 pm) West Virginia State Museum Shop Located on the right side of the Great Hall as you enter the Culture Center, the Museum Shop has a variety of mementos and exceptional handcrafted art and crafts by West Virginia artists. Selections for young shoppers are priced under $5 and up. We recommend visiting the shop after your museum journey and before you pick up your coats from the check-in area next door.
